Impermeable, warm and comfortable shoes are what all of us need during cold, rainy and windy weather.
Why is the protective membrane so important, what is its role in the shoe itself?
Imagine your clothes are wet from the rain, do you know why you do not feel warm? Aqueous materials transfer heat up to 3 times faster than dry materials, reducing body heat. The protective membranes provide water impermeability which prevents heat loss from the shoes and at the same time provide a feeling of comfort even during weather disasters.
Did your feet get cold when the wind blew? Materials such as microfiber are often considered to be impermeable to wind, but whenever the wind blows, it penetrates through such materials and can make you feel uncomfortable and cold.
In technical terms, a material can be considered as windproof if its wind resistance is 1.0 cfm (per volume of wind passing through a square meter of material for a period of one minute or less than one minute.
Do you know what the Gore-Tex, AIR-TEX, ImacTex labels mean on some of the shoes from Peko stores?
Gore-Tex is a waterproof, factory membrane, registered as a trademark (patent) of W. L. Gore and Associates. Gore- Tex membrane was created in the distant 1969 and today exists as a successful brand because it is the only product on the market that uses this technology to prevent water from entering the shoes and while allowing water vapor to pass through them. This patented membrane is designed from a lightweight impermeable material that is great for any season.
The basic component of this membrane is the stretchable material polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which we believe you already know better as the Teflon brand. The Gore Tex protective membrane has more than 9 billion pores per square inch or 1.4 billion pores per square centimeter. Each pore is on average 1 / 20,000 the size of a water droplet making the membrane impermeable to water droplets and at the same time permeable to vapor molecules. This membrane provides comfort and convenience even in various extreme weather conditions. It is characterized by high water resistance, offers wind protection and allows the foot to breathe.
This is a special type of patented membrane that allows to sew a special protective membrane that allows the feet to breathe, prevents moisture from entering the inside of the membrane creating an ideal microclimate inside the shoe providing maximum comfort to the feet.
This type of membrane is a significant innovative upgrade of PLANIKA TREKKING shoes.
AIR-TEX membrane is a polyurethane membrane (PU) membrane that prevents water from entering the shoes and at the same time ensures air tightness.
If you need extra protection this season, we recommend the models of PLANIKA, ARA (MEN), LEGERO, IMAC, which are supplemented with these excellent protective membranes.
The models can be found in all Peko stores.
